The Safety Start app offers a suite of features tailored to address the unique challenges faced by carpentry professionals. One of its standout innovations is the Online Site Induction Form, which simplifies the onboarding process for new workers and visitors.

Asplundh is a specialist vegetation management service provider. In health and safety they understand the importance of consultation and communication, and the Asplundh team knew they could improve within their team and their clients. Through sharing key knowledge and information during safety tailgate meetings, they have seen large improvements in employee engagement, safety conversations and overall experience in dealing with Asplundh.

Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group
Most Innovative WHS Idea (Large)
Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group (NCIG) operates a premier coal export terminal at the Port of Newcastle, supporting the nation’s coal export industry. Innovation is a key part of their success. NCIG recognised a critical challenge in measuring safety performance due to the limitations of traditional lag indicators, particularly in a workplace with an already low injury rate. In response, NCIG developed the Safety Culture Score (SCS)—an innovative framework designed to holistically measure and enhance safety performance by integrating lead indicators across four key dimensions: Environment, Practices, People, and Leadership.

As those closest to the workforce, frontline leaders have the greatest impact on shaping and strengthening the Infrabuild safety culture.

As the HR Manager at Swietelsky Rail Australia (SRA), Tahnee Sumner has demonstrated outstanding commitment to integrating Work Health and Safety (WHS) principles into her day-to-day activities and broader organisational initiatives. Beyond her core HR responsibilities, which include recruitment, onboarding, and employee lifecycle management, Tahnee actively prioritises the health, safety, and wellbeing of the workforce across all levels of the organisation.

With the highest number of award entries, we are surrounded tonight by WHS Champions but there could only be one winner.

Emma Meldrum’s passion and lived experience with mental health has seen her take on an instrumental role in the rollout of the Pacific National Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy. Emma utilises her internal relationships with the business, as well as internal communication platforms to connect, share knowledge, develop training and more.
